Affectionately known as “The Nellie,” the Mount Nelson has embodied timeless style and elegance for over 125 years. First painted pink in 1918 to usher in a new era of peace, the hotel’s blush façade has since become a beloved landmark in Cape Town’s cityscape. Nestled beneath Table Mountain and framed by stately palms, the Nellie is as much a part of Cape Town’s character as the mountain itself.

The Collection
Surrounded by lush, palm-lined gardens and flanked by striped loungers, the Mount Nelson poolside set the scene for this collaboration.
Drawing inspiration from the hotel’s timeless appeal and lush palette, the limited collection features two signature Fieldbar products:
- The Drinks Box – Perfectly Mount Nelson’s matched pink and a green leather handle that alludes to the palms that so elegantly frame Cape Town’s favourite hotel.
- The Seabed Beach and Bath Towel – A playful take on the Mount Nelson’s luxurious patterned textiles and their shared appreciation for safari style.
“We’ve long admired the Mount Nelson – not just for its history and elegance, but for the feeling it evokes,” says Kristen Duff, Head of Creative Commerce at Fieldbar.
“Our goal was to encapsulate that feeling. From the perfectly matched pink Pantone, to the subtle green handle, every design choice venerates our city’s most iconic hospitality establishment.”
Inspired by both the hotel and its grounds, Fieldbar designed this collection to conjure days spent lounging at the Nellie pool, in the dappled shade of palm trees. This collaboration invites those who appreciate stylish leisure to carry a piece of that feeling wherever they go.
