MAGUGU HOUSE CAPE TOWN OPENS AT MOUNT NELSON

A new home for African creativity: A cultural platform by Thebe Magugu dedicated to fashion, art and creative exchange

Mount Nelson, A Belmond Hotel, Cape Town, in collaboration with visionary South African designer Thebe Magugu, has officially opened MAGUGU HOUSE CAPE TOWN, a dynamic concept store and cultural hub conceived as a platform for fashion, art and creative exchange. The space launches with its inaugural exhibition, “By Our Own Hands”, presented in partnership with Southern Guild and co-curated by Thebe Magugu alongside Contemporary African Art Specialist JuliaBuchanan. Bringing together the works of Zanele Muholi and Zizipho Poswa with Magugu’s exploration of fashion as ritual practice, the exhibition reflects on making as a form of authorship, healing and resistance. Each artist approaches material and adornment as carriers of lineage, spirit and self-sovereignty
