By Samsung has officially unveiled its next-generation wearables the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9. The headline story this time isn’t just about steps and notifications; it’s about turning your wrist into a genuine health command centre. Backed by Samsung’s biggest smartwatch battery yet its brightest display to date and the new Snapdragon Wear Elite platform the new lineup is built to be worn constantly so it can quietly do the hard work of translating raw biometric data into insights you can actually act on.
“Samsung is committed to helping people live better. We want to make the shift from reactive treatment to proactive care as seamless as possible,” said TM Roh, CEO, President and Head of the Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics. Galaxy Watch Ultra2: Built for the Edge
If the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 has one job it’s to survive and thrive wherever its owner takes it. This is Samsung’s most rugged and capable Galaxy Watch to date, aimed squarely at endurance athletes trail runners and divers who need serious hardware to match their ambitions.
Smarter outdoor tracking: A new Trail Run mode logs elevation, climbing progress and terrain impact in real time, helping runners pace themselves and avoid injury on technical routes. It’s paired with a new Nutrition Alert feature which builds on the existing Sweat Loss tracking by estimating fluid loss relative to body weight and telling users exactly when and how much to hydrate.
Genuine dive capability: This isn’t a watch that merely tolerates water. Rated IP69K, 10 ATM and EN13319-certified the Ultra2 is officially dive-ready. Despite the bigger battery Samsung has managed to slim the case down by 12% compared to the last generation through internal re-engineering while lighter, softer bands help the shock-resistant titanium build feel just as at home in the boardroom as it does on a mountainside.

Where the Ultra2 chases extremes, the Galaxy Watch9 is designed for the daily grind consistent activity and sleep tracking, wrapped in a design comfortable enough that you’ll actually forget you’re wearing it.
It keeps the familiar cushion-shaped silhouette Galaxy Watch is known for now refined for a closer more natural fit and built from lightweight yet durable aluminium. A broad range of interchangeable soft-touch bands rounds out the comfort-first approach which matters because consistent wear is what makes the underlying health data reliable in the first place.
Inside the Watch9 also gets the new Snapdragon Wear Elite platform for smoother lag-free health monitoring a 390 mAh battery tuned for round-the-clock tracking and a 3,000-nit display for easy at-a-glance readability in any lighting.
The Real Upgrade: AI-Powered Health Insights
Hardware aside the biggest shift in this generation is how much smarter the software has become at interpreting your body. Both watches share the same suite of AI-driven health features powered by Samsung’s BioActive sensor and years of clinical research conducted with leading universities and medical institutions.
